Sunny Scotland

With the last few posts being lets face it – a bit bleak weather wise. I felt I should end on a high note – with all the lovely weather days from our holiday. Next up is the stunning Raasay Island followed by Loch Ness, Loch Leven and the iconic Eilean Donan Castle.

Righto first up – our new home for the next few days – Raasay House.

We walked up from the ferry port – a mere 300m, DH carried the big bag and I took the little one.

Stopping briefly to turn around and check out the view. My heart aches just looking at it – miles and miles away from horrible cities and surrounded by lovely Scottish people. Heaven. If only the weather could be like this more of the time!

I took a little walk around the island – well part of it. And took zillions of photos – peaceful doesn’t even come close to how I felt.

Confusing signs for the launderette…

And the cable telephone. The hotel had these cool wooded pod things for their staff – see bottom of the photo – but really I  would have loved to stay in one! A lot more comfy than the glamping tent I reckon. IMG_6757

These lucky folk headed out for their evening paddle – all booked up though – no spaces left for hotel guests that only booked in that day – sad face!

More paths with views to magical and sheep filled hills.

Did I mention that turquoise, blue and green are my favourite colours? This was the view from the hotel window.

Sparkly sea…

daft sheep….

and blue blue skies.

We hit the jackpot these last few days. Loch Ness was stiller than still as Urquhart castle presided over it as it has done for hundreds of years.

And then a little jaunt over to Eilean Donan castle. DSC_0802

Picture postcard perfect. IMG_6730

And a few last pics of our walk near Kinlochleven

Slán go Fóill Scotland!! Until next time!
